Just the other day, bongo crooner Diamond Platnumz released his much-anticipated music video from his collaboration with Rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide. He has now made yet another Youtube history after acquiring over one million views in just eight hours of the music’s premier. Waah also hit 2 million views on the streaming app in 13 hours making Diamond the first African artist to achieve that fete.
He now holds the record that was previously held by Nigeria’s Davido with his hit song Fem which garnered 1.8 million views in just 22 hours. Waah music video was directed by Director Kenny of Zoom Extra, a production company that is co-owned by Diamond Platnumz and Kenny. The music video showcases the Wasafi president’s dancing moves along with his unique sense of fashion that has had many talking.
Notably, Waah is his first music video to surpass a million views in 8 hours. However, he had previously set a record with Kanyaga hit song and his feature on Tanasha Donna’s Gere by hitting a million views in just 13 hours.
Taking to his social media pages, the Baba Lao singer thanked his fans for the massive support they have shown to his craft and helping him achieve the new record.
“Thank you for the new record in Africa #WAAh! VIDEO 2 Million Youtube viewers within 13 hours, it’s more than blessings… ( Usiku was jana tuliandika historia mpya ya video ya #WAAH! kufikisha watazamaji milioni mbili ndani ya masaa 13)” he wrote.
Diamond Platnumz, became the African artist to garner one billion views on YouTube earlier this year.
