American actress and model Eva Mendes has revealed that her daughter is the reason why she has not been on social media.
The decision to keep away from social media came from the following comment from her husband Ryan Gosling and their daughter who told her that she was spending too much time on her phone.
Gosling and Eva have two daughters Esmeralda, 6, and Amanda, 4.
The Hitch star shared the anecdote of her experience on Instagram and at the same time giving advice to parents’ to allow their children to critique them positively.
The post encourages parents to allow their kids to call them out because “kids can be so fiercely aligned with their value that they will take nothing less than the respect they deserve. They will take no BS. Not even from you. Congratulations, you raised an empowered child.”
Feeling encouraged by the tweet Eva acknowledged the page’s advice saying it was a good reminder” Thank you to @latinxparenting for this important reminder. I haven’t posted lately because my little one told me I was on the phone too much.”
The Place Beyond the Pines star continued to say “I could tell she was taking it personally. And she’s a kid, of course, she’d take it personally. They take things personally unless we go out of our way to make it clear to them it’s not personal.”
“I realized that just because I’m always home with them doesn’t mean I’m always present,” she concluded.
Eva also responded to a fan’s inquiry as to why she does not post about her husband and children on social media.
“I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids,” Eva replied. “I’ll talk about them of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life. And since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent.”
