In a recent interview on Complex’s 360 With Speedy Morman, Obama confirmed that Drake will be the best person to portray him in any stories about his life.
“I will say this: Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants, I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So, if the time comes and he’s ready …” Obama said.
The former POTUS further revealed that drake had a stamp of approval from just not him alone but as well as his daughters Sasha and Malia.
“Drake has, more importantly, I think, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.” Might be a little distracting for the audience, but then again, you never forgot for a second that was Lady Gaga on the screen during A Star Is Born, and she still got an Oscar nom. And that’s not even considering all the Best Original Song possibilities …
Over a decade ago Drake expressed his desire to portray Barack Obama in a movie. In 2010, the ‘God’s Plan’ rapper said in an interview with Paper Magazine that he looked up to Obama so religiously that he felt he was already prepared to accurately play Obama in a movie.
“I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” he told the outlet at the time. “I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice”
“If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions. Slowly but surely, I’m not in the study mode because nobody’s called me about anything, but I just pay attention so when the day comes I’m not scrambling to learn how to speak like him,” he said.
In Vikram Gandhi’s film ‘Barry’ Devon Terrell played a college-aged Obama and Parker Sawyers played Barack as he wooed wife Michelle on their first date in Richard’s Tannes movie Southside With You
If a filmmaker is planning to do a new biopic on Obama maybe on his latest memoir ‘A promised Land’ they already have one actor who has been chosen by the man himself and that actor is Drake.
