Gengetone’s Ochungulo Family hints re-union, premiers new jam

Four years ago, a new genre of music gained massive popularity in the Kenyan music scene thus attracting millions of listeners nationally and beyond.

The unique genre dubbed Gengetone, instantly shot to fame with most of its creators and producers scoring coveted awards in the competitive industry.

No sooner had the musicians started making footprints musically, the  Gengetone groups mysteriously started parting ways, a move that completely diminished this genre, barely a few years after its birth.

Among these faded groups is the Ochungulo family, a group of three that recently split this February, after three years of collaborative efforts and massive hits.

The said group, consisting of D’More, Nelly the Goon, and Benzema, issued an official statement two months ago saying their decision to part ways was driven by their desire to pursue their work individually and they saw that as the best way forward.

“To all our Fans… We wanna say Thank you for the support you have given us the past for few years. You have been good to us, God has been good to us & the music has been good to us. We have reached a point we have different goals & targets. So the decision of us splitting is a mutual feeling and we saw that as the best way forward. Again, Thank you so much for the support!!! We shall meet again. God bless you all🙏🙏@nellythegoon @dmore_mr_ochungulo@benzemadavid @kardozar” reads the Statement.

Well, just two months in, the trio is at it again firing hints of a possible reunion at their fans after a few weeks of dormancy?

Previously, the Ochungl’o Family pulled down all their entertaining music from their Youtube channel, and reportedly, they could be making a comeback after they premiered a music video on their YouTube channel on Thursday.

The music video “Kamua Kamua” will apparently be released tomorrow Friday at 10:00 am.

This might be just a ray of hope for Gengetone music’s comeback in the industry.

Fans have utterly applauded the move, urging other Gengetone artists to reunite and restore the versatility they brought to the music industry.
