“I Wrote This Song Amidst A Lot Of Pain And Confusion,” Ruth Matete Talks ‘Damu Yako’.

Gospel singer and former TPF winner, Ruth Matete made musical comeback months after losing her husband, John Apewejoye. The late pastor succumbed to injuries sustained during a fire accident at their home. The couple were expecting their first child together at the time of his demise, leaving behind an expectant Matete.

Ruth in an instagram post revealed that the Damu yako song was a confession she made when going through turmoil and despair. Addressing her pain, frustrations and how God came through for her at her hour of need, she came up with the lyrics to the hit song.

Earlier on her posts she reminded her fans on the importance of waiting, as God’s time is the best. Giving example with the biblical characters Hannah and Peninnah, with the former having to wait on God to give her children whilst the other was having fun at giving birth. However her prayers finally got answered and she was blessed with a son.
