“Kenyan Artists Are Broke!” Producer Magix Enga Claims.
Celebrated producer and artist Magix Enga has revealed what the entertainment industry is like in Kenya. According to an Instagram post, Magix Enga claimed that Kenyan artists are broke despite Kenya’s economy being better than some of the countries in the region. He blamed the government for the state at which Kenyan artists find themselves.
“Kenyan artists are broke because the system can’t allow them to make money out of their talents, hard work and efforts. The entire music industry is broke and run by cartels who take advantage of a weak corrupt government. The government is bogus! Kenya iko an pesa kuliko Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa but its artists are the poorest. Hakuna msanii Kenya ameomoka… Not in this government,” the renowned Producer wrote.
Notably, this is not the first time a Kenyan artist has been vocal about how the government has been underpaying them. Big names such as Khaligraph Jones went on to address the issue in a hit song Kwenda demanding that the board should be disbanded as it does not help them as artists in any manner but profits its seniors.
Magix Enga’s claims come just a few days after he had promised to work with unknown talents giving a discount for his studio session to help such artists meet his rates.
