Following his demise earlier in the week,Churchill comedian Ben Maurice Onyango alias Othuol Othuol is set to be buried on October 25th.

Consequent to his untimely death, his fellow comedians are planning to give him a decent send-off with an estimated budget of Ksh. 1,000,00 on the higher side.

In a statement by Laugh Industry’s Ken Waudo, the funeral committee is planning a fundraiser for the deceased who was struggling with tuberculosis and a prolonged brain tumours that saw him admitted at health facilities severally.

Plans are underway to inter his body at his ancestral home in Ndere, in Siaya County scheduled for 25th October 2020 and we are looking at Othuol funeral ranging from Ksh 700,000 to Ksh.1,000,000” Waudo stated.

However, when the news of his fundraising was made known to the public, netizens were quick to observe people are only willing to support an individual after his death.

“He only needed Ksh 15,000 to survive but we’re ready to spend Ksh1 million to bury him? The hypocrisy,” one person wrote

“Why are people so unfair during sicknesses and so generous on funerals. Those who were previously sick?” another opined.

“It is sad how people sometimes can be. These same friends failed him when he needed them” another stated

Contrary to netizen’s disappointment towards comedians , Othuol once opened up on his diagnosis on March and said his comedian friends always helped when he fell sick.

Othuol most especially thanked Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill and the Laugh Industry for paying his medical bills when admitted at health facilities.

“Some fans used to send me money on Mpesa, some would even say they had sent the money for my lunch. Churchill took me to the hospital, and I also appreciate the Laugh Industry, they paid the hospital bills,” he explained at the time

Following his long battle with a brain tumor and prolonged tuberculosis, the thespian died on Sunday October 11 at the Kenyatta National Hospital aged 31 years.
