MTV MAMAs Awards Set For February 2021 In Uganda

The iconic MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) which solely showcases African culture, music, and creativity is set to be held in a virtual format in Uganda for the first time come February 20th, 2021.

Godfrey Kiwanda, State Minister for Tourism Uganda commented, “It is an incredible achievement for Uganda to host the continent and International stakeholders for the MAMA Kampala 2021 for the first time. The awards are an extraordinary African cultural experience, and we understand the important role it plays in driving awareness, cross-culture education, and profiling the continent’s rich leisure tourism offerings on the international stage.” He said

Following the announcement from the event’s designated organizers, the ultimate MTV Base celebrations will be broadcasted across various mainstream media channels like MTV Base and MTV.

A repeat show will be aired on BET Africa, BET international, and various MTV channels in a one hour MTV world stage feature courtesy of the “Pearl of Africa” which is best identified as Uganda in a bid to promote tourism wildlife, and cultural heritage conservation for the socio-economic development and transformation of Uganda.

The MAMA 2021 in partnership with Uganda, will recognize, and reward musicians, trailblazers, and those who are shedding more light on the African content’s diverse talent and creativity by naturing a positive impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year.

Vibrant performances will also be featured virtually from leading African and international acts who will showcase their well-known cross-genre and cross-border collaborations.
