“The Grammys May No Longer Matter” Drake Joins Artists in Ditching The Grammys for a New Show.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after. It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways.” Drake wrote on Instagram stories
According to Drake, there is a disconnect between impactful music and these awards. He further said that he is one of the people who thought that The Weekend deserved either the album or song of the year along with countless assumptions.
Even after the commercial and critical success of The Weekends ‘After Hours’ album that has attracted massive attention from the industry observers alongside his single ‘Blinding lights’ it is unfortunate that he never got to receive any Grammy Nominations.
“This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generations to come,” Drake said.
Drake has won four Grammys and in 2019 he called out the awards right on stage as he received his awards for Best Rap Song for his song God’s Plan. The rapper is also up for three awards this year but that has not stopped him from speaking out on The Weeknd’s issue.
The ‘Toosie Slide’ entertainer further suggested that an alternative show needs to be established to replace the Grammys. He went on to mention a list of artists who missed out on the nominations like Lil Baby, Popcorn, and “too many missing names to even name” he concluded.
