It has been over 2 years since former BBC journalist and gay activist Makena Njeri made headlines after a viral photo of her vandalized pristine white Mercedes Benz surfaced online. For the first time, since the incident, Makena has opened up about it in an interview with Radio Jambo’s Massawe Japani.
“Two years ago my story was told by people before I could. I sat down and said the reason why it hurt was that people told my story,” she explained.
She went on to reveal that she has no idea of the suspect behind the vandalism however, she pointed out that the case is still under investigation.
“I also don’t know,” responded Makena when asked who she suspects vandalized her car, “the police are still investigating who vandalized my Mercedes Benz. I will not look back at the bad things that happened. Every day we try our best to move on, forward.”
Asked whether she suspects her lover had a hand in it, Makena said,
“I will leave the speculation of whoever who did to people who want to speculate.”
She continued to reiterate her earlier sentiments saying, “I also don’t know. I keep on saying that, all that is in the past, what is important now is, what is Makena doing right now.”
