On Monday evening of October 4th, 2021 WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook all faced a setback following a major outage forcing the giant social apps to remain inaccessible shortly after 7:30 pm E.A.T.
Similarly, other products within the giant social media family that have halted operations include applications such as Facebook Workplace and Facebook Business Suite which have also stopped working.
Following the setbacks, many Facebook users simply came across an error page or a message that their browser could not connect.
Although the likes WhatsApp and Instagram apps continue to work, users are unable to access updated content including notifications or status updates.
Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone has since issued a public apology via Twitter for the ongoing problem without giving any indication of why the outage began or how long it might take to revert to normalcy.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products,” spokesperson Andy Stone wrote on Twitter.
“We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
On the other hand, Facebook tweeted:
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Facebook app. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The mentioned applications are all owned, run, and managed by Facebook.
